The shows will go on confirm BSAVA’s Regions Now Volunteers

The BSAVA’s Regions Now Programme will continue in its virtual format, the Association’s regional volunteers behind the initiative have confirmed. The popular sessions offer high quality CPD in 12 separate regions around the UK. They can be accessed by any BSAVA members and non-members regardless of their location.

Avian influenza (bird flu) national prevention zone declared

12 November 2020

An Avian Influenza Prevention Zone (AIPZ) has been declared across England, Scotland and Wales to mitigate the risk of the disease spreading. The UK Government has worked closely with Scottish and Welsh Governments to introduce national prevention zones at the same time which means it is a legal requirement for all bird keepers, including those with backyard flocks, to follow strict biosecurity measures until further notice.

New JSAP study shows value of transverse sectioning in assessment of canine alopecia

BSAVA provides Q&A advice on protecting backyard flocks from avian influenza

The British Small Animal Veterinary Association (BSAVA) has put together a Q&A to help backyard poultry owners protect their birds from avian influenza. The advice comes following the risk of bird flu occurring in the UK being raised to “medium” in wild birds. The risk of bird flu occurring in poultry is considered “low”, provided that there is a good standard of biosecurity.
