BSAVA unveils programme highlights for Congress 2018

4 September 2017

BSAVA has expanded its 2018 Congress programme to include more than 450 lectures from world-renowned speakers, a new ‘Beyond the Clinics’ personal development stream, and more practical, wet lab and small group sessions. The four-day event, which takes two years to plan, is the largest in Europe dedicated to the provision of small animal veterinary CPD, and hopes to top the almost 50,000 hours of CPD delivered in 2017.

RCVS Knowledge launches journal watch service

A free resource that keeps veterinary practitioners, academics and students up to date with latest research and critically appraised topics has been launched this week by RCVS Knowledge. inFOCUS, produced by Knowledge’s Library and Information Service, watches all relevant veterinary journals and provides concise summaries of the most important, interesting or practice-critical primary and secondary material.

Mental health awareness CPD for the whole team

FECAVA announce first recipient of the Didier-Noël Carlotti Award

The Federation of European Companion Animal Veterinary Associations (FECAVA) has announced that the first recipient of the inaugural Didier-Noël Carlotti Award is Eric Guaguère. The award, sponsored by Virbac, will be presented at the WSAVA/FECAVA congress in Copenhagen in September for outstanding service in the fields of inter-professional communication and/or continuing education for companion animal veterinarians in Europe.

FECAVA Best Paper award winners announced

9 August 2017

Shailen Jasani (UK) and Viktor Szatmári (Netherlands) are the 2017 recipients of the FECAVA awards for best original and best reprint paper, respectively, published in the European Journal of Companion Animal Practice (EJCAP). The awards will be presented during the opening ceremony of the 23rd congress of the Federation of European Companion Animal Veterinary Associations (FECAVA), to be held in Copenhagen next month.

BSAVA against Scottish Government decision

The BSAVA's opinion is that the decision to reintroduce tail docking to Scotland is a retrograde step that would be detrimental to animal health and welfare. Hollyrood’s environment committee voted last month by seven votes to three to amend legislation to lets vets shorten the tails of some working dogs.
