Thiamine deficiency

Following the recent recall of four dried cat food products due to low thiamine levels, BSAVA wanted to provide a brief update on thiamine deficiency. Help select anniversary research

As part of the 60th anniversary celebrations, PetSavers is spending £140,000 on funding four additional Masters Degree by research grants. Following consultations with UK Vet Schools, a shortlist of six research subject areas has been agreed which are: the use of antibiotics, canine parasitic diseases, advances in oncology, quality of life assessment, chronic feline conditions and joint disease.

Avian Influenza – Northumberland

A further case of Avian Influenza (H5N8) has been confirmed in a small flock of chickens at a farm near Haltwhistle, Northumberland. A full investigation is under way to determine the source of the infection.

Spanish FECAVA Travel Scholarship winners visit Belgium

Avian influenza confirmed near Redgrave

14 February 2017

Defra has announced (13 February) an initial 10km Temporary Control Zone around a poultry premises near Redgrave, in mid-Suffolk, following investigation into a suspected case of Avian Influenza where laboratory analysis has identified the presence of H5N8.
