Vets call for ban on electric pulse collars

The British Small Animal Veterinary Association (BSAVA) and the British Veterinary Association (BVA) are calling for a complete ban on the sale and use of electric pulse training collars, in response to the Scottish Government’s consultation (6 Nov 2015 - 29 Jan 2016) on the use of electronic aversive training aids.

New DNA testing scheme for Cocker Spaniels

The Kennel Club has approved a new official DNA testing scheme for Acral Mutilation Syndrome (AMS) in Cocker Spaniels, following consultation with the Health Coordinator on behalf of the breed clubs.

Susan Paterson, RCVS and European Specialist in Veterinary Dermatology, has been appointed President of the BSAVA for 2019/2020. Qualifying from Cambridge in 1984, Sue spent some time in mixed practice in Devon before taking her Certificate and then British and European Diplomas in Veterinary Dermatology.
